Take a look at this Ace paint category. Is less more?
The most straightforward DIY project with the most impact has to be painting. Most new homeowners might think it’s easy. It can be easy if you’d like to keep it easy. If I could go back in time and start the first paint job in our first house, I’d start at an Ace like this.
Ace makes painting easy. You can review my previous posts about Lowe’s and The Home Depot. Why? Because they’re about bathrooms, savings events, and cleaning supplies. Whew. There’s a lot to be inspired by in those stores. There are a lot of projects in the big box that get in the way of the task at hand. Don’t get me wrong, the paint departments at Lowe’s and Home Depot are full of great brands, excellent solutions, and helpful team members. They’re also full of customers. Full. At Ace, there is no selection paralysis. Ace has a helpful hardware person the moment you walk in the door.
I remember when Ace’s primary brand was Valspar. Sherwin-Williams bought Valspar. In 2020, Ace made the switch to Benjamin Moore. Plus, They’ve got Magnolia, and their private label brand Clark + Kensington. I’ve never used Benjamin Moore paint. As you see above, they’ve got a branded page on the Ace website, which seems pretty trend-forward. This should be fun.
AceHardware.com’s paint banner highlights the 2024 color of the year. Blue Nova 825. Thanks for the trend info, helpful hardware folks!
AceHardware.com’s Paint Studio is a great place to start. There are tips, a color visualizer, trends, inspiration, and even a color of the month.
When you have to know, just ask search. If you haven’t yet, use search like you’re asking a human. It talks back like a human now.
This is it. A proven and highly regarded brand with a lot of colors. Is that enough?
The display counter is set with paint chips, books, and other inspirations.
This display wall is simple and helpful. It provides all the inspiration, education, and instruction a DIYer needs while a store associate is helping other customers.
The finishes in different shades on trim are very helpful. The different shades are great. Most stores just have a single color with the different finishes applied on a wall texture.
This section is labeled “Historical.” I’m in the old home part of town. I’ll check to see if this is a version. But it’s very helpful. The preselected category gives me peace of mind.
There are most requested off-white colors. Just when you thought, “Wow, this IS just the right amount of stuff to look through,” you get 152 off-whites.
Thank you, Ace, for just the right amount of information. At Ace, the paint team member will tell you, “Wipe tape across your roller first to get all the extra fuzz off.” Trust me, it’s a huge letdown when all the fuzz from the first roll is on the wall.
Thanks, Ace, for just the right amount of information. The paint team member at Ace will tell you, “Get a good brush, clean and dry it properly.” Master the brush edge now and save time later. Soon, you’ll be able to paint a room without taping.
Benjamin Moore paint benefits for each “flavor” are posted in aisle.
Compare Benjamin Moore paint variants at the paint mixing desk. If you’re on file at Ace, they’ll also assign the paint colors to your house and rooms. It’s very helpful. Especially if you get rid of the can and forget the color.
Grab a snack. You’ll need some whole-grain goodness to start your project.
Thanks, Ace. I appreciate parking so close to the door. It’s just another Ace benefit.
That’s a great value proposition above, Ace. From the website to the door, and even in the store, buying paint at ACE is a very easy customer experience—a really good brand of paint in all the colors, with helpful signs and staff. Plus, you keep my colors on file to make it easy for next time. And there’s popcorn and even a parking spot near the door. Head to Ace and help out your local hardware folks.
