Time to Bag Scotts DayLawn Saving deals 💰
I can’t take credit for “Daylawn Savings,” which is a Scotts line, but I’ll take credit for putting all their offers in one place. While the lawn is brown here and could be covered with snow, Scotts makes now a good time to save on your outdoor supplies for the whole year. Yes, these are chemicals, and chemicals are bad, but green lawns and big flowers are nice to look at. If your lawn is in shambles, these are good things to get your yard on the right path before applying a simple grow and mow strategy.Â
This week’s walkabout started with this email from Scotts. I’ve got their “My Lawn App,” so they always email me. I liked how this one gave the retailers a nod. Plus, some good old broadcast television is playing on HGTV to increase awareness of the event. Let’s head to Ace, Lowe’s, and The Home Depot to see how Daylawn savings is activated.
It’s Daylawn Savings at Ace, and their website says it right there. EZ seed and the Triple Action are noted with the standard Ace “Sale” flag. Hang on the image to scroll down and see Ace’s exclusive offer.
Daylawn Savings at Ace gives you an extra $25 in Ace Rewards when you spend $150 across all Scotts brands. Plus, there are additional member savings on Scotts 4-Step Annual System. The system is only at Ace or you can get it DTC from Scotts.
$100 is a good deal for the whole year. These are the smaller bags. It’s the perfect amount for a city yard.
All the offers are on the door.  Currently, Ace is the only place with member savings on top of Scotts “Daylawn Savings” program.Â
Lots of other products on that Scotts end cap! That’s all there is in store at this Ace.
Get your bonus Ace reward with a $150 purchase across all Scotts brands. Get rid of pests while you’re greening your lawn!
I’ll be honest, Lowe’s knows it’s not lawn season yet where I live. They’ve been working hard in some other places.
At the store entrance, there’s a Triple Action pallet. I wouldn’t advise laying the only campaign sign in the store on top of the product.
All that hard work brands do for campaigns can get implemented this way. Or maybe it was just taped to the bottom, fell off to the floor, and a shopper put it on top.Â
More pallets in a smaller size are in the main aisle.Â
Outside, there are some seed shippers.Â
Seed can be expensive, so I usually mix it with EZSeed. It’s a gamechanger.
These seem new to me. Rather than selling grass seed before spring, Lowe’s is making some home improvements.
Two weeks ago, this was a “Style & Save” kitchen and bath event. It’s been transformed into a backyard sanctuary. Even grouped by color. The cafe lights are a great touch!
This outdoor power aisle is spectacular. Is this new? Each sign gets one claim, three benefits, and the brand colors. Everything else is the same except Toro.
There’s a lot of great stuff at The Home Depot, but not any extra savings. Even though their website lacks a Scotts branded header, much of the toolkit is in-store.
One-Two Punch at the entry. Scotts and The Home Depot hit you with the promo and a two-step program (next image).
Yup. Just two steps. Have you ever used the Ultrafeed? That’s how you get the purple-green lawn.
The entire entry to the garden center is celebrating “Daylawn Savings.”Â
It’s all here. Crabgrass. Triple. Weed & Feed. But where’s the OG Scotts Turfbuilder?
At The Home Depot, all the event signs are green. Lowe’s were white. Remember that one on the pallet?
EZSeed and Thick’r Lawn have their end cap.
Hey, that’s a deal.
Get it in any size! IMO, I’m not a fan of this stuff. There’s still a bit left in my garage.
There’s more pallets outside.
Take down! Hey, our team at the old agency made these signs, as well as all the color coding and category signs. I’m looking forward to seeing what goes up next!
Now you be the judge.
You’re Scotts. You’ve got some TV, out-of-home, and emails running for Daylawn Savings. You’ve plugged the retailers in the emails. You head to the store to see the campaign. What do you think? Do you say, “Hmm, that’s good enough?” Or do you ask yourself, “Why can’t Ace use the assets in-store? Why can’t THD use the assets online? How can we make this a priority for Lowe’s?”
Hey, are you in a warm weather climate? Is your grass green? If it is, send me a few Lowe’s photos. Maybe it’s a bigger deal somewhere else.
If you want to make your lawn lush this season, remember you don’t run a golf course. Keep that lawn as high as your mower goes. Longer grass chokes out weeds and survives with less water. Leave the clippings. Once you’ve got a tall lawn, spot-remove weeds and move to organics. And remember to dispose of all the old chemicals properly.Â
Â
Let’s get growing. See you at the store!
Take inventory before you buy more.
Activating a brand campaign at retailers? Remember each retailer’s insights to connect to their shoppers. It’s not a one-size-fits-all approach.
